Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., is raising the possibility that a special counsel will be needed to investigate the business dealings of Joe Biden’s son, Hunter.

Johnson made his comments Wednesday during an interview on Fox Business Network’s “Morning with Maria.”

“I am not a big fan of special counsels, but if Joe Biden wins the presidency, I don’t see how you avoid one,” Johnson said. “Otherwise, this is going to be, you know, tucked away, and we will never know what happened. All this evidence is going to be buried, so I think we have to have a special (counsel) if Joe Biden wins.”

Johnson has already called on the FBI to answer questions about a reported meeting between Joe Biden and a senior official from Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings amid a controversy over the dismissal of a prosecutor investigating the firm.

“This isn’t a standard investigation where if the FBI doesn’t indict somebody that everything remains confidential,” he said.

“This is something that as we were talking about relates to national security and if there’s criminal activity involved that could be tied to Hunter Biden or his business associates or even possibly tie it back to other members of the Biden family.”
